The 1:2 Tx Protection Switch Panel is a logic panel used in satellite communications earth stations. The system mechanism operates waveguide and coaxial switches to operator desired positions. The mechanisms provide switching operations for LNA’s and fiber link units in an automatic (unattended) or manual (local and or remote) mode. During normal operation of a protection switch panel, two active units are connected between the antenna and the indoor equipment. The standby units are connected to input and output dummy loads. In the event of a failure of an active unit, the standby chain is switched in place of the malfunctioning chain when the panel is in automatic mode. The malfunctioning unit is then connected to a dummy load.
